This collection of photographs of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle photographs consists of a letter written by Thomas Carlyle to a photographer in 1870 commenting on photographs of Jane Welsh Carlyle and accompanied with two photographs with his comments written on them. Also included are other photographs of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle. In addition, there are numerous photographs by John Patrick of sites related to where the Carlyles lived and of the grave of Thomas Carlyle.
